JIT Consultants was established by Justin Tao, a Lean transformation expert with more than 23 years of international experience helping organisations improve manufacturing performance and supply chain excellence across Australia and China.

Leveraging deep expertise in Lean manufacturing, supplier development, and China operations, JIT Consultants works with companies throughout Australia, Europe, and North America to strengthen supplier capability, reduce operational risk, and build resilient, high-performing China supply chains.

Justin Tao

Consulting director

Justin Tao is an internationally recognised Lean manufacturing and China supply chain expert with more than 23 years of experience helping organisations improve operational performance and build world-class manufacturing capabilities. He holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Justin began his career with Toyota, Otis Elevator, and Kraft Foods in China, where he developed a strong practical foundation in the Toyota Production System (TPS), continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Over the past two decades, he has successfully led Lean transformation programmes across a wide range of industries throughout China and Australia.

As an “Authentic” Chinese who gets first-hand experiences in China and now lives in Australia, Justin possesses a unique understanding of both Chinese manufacturing practices and Western business expectations. This combination enables him to bridge cultural, operational, and communication gaps between international companies and their Chinese suppliers. He has helped numerous organisations from Australia, Europe, and North America improve supplier performance, manufacturing capability, quality, productivity, and supply chain effectiveness through practical Lean implementation.

Beyond his consulting work, Justin has made significant contributions to the Lean community. He co-translated the Chinese editions of several internationally recognised Lean classics, including The Machine That Changed the World, Getting the Right Things Done, and Lean Solutions. His Lean transformation case studies have also been published in the Chinese editions of Learning to See and Lean Practices in China II, sharing practical insights and best practices with Lean practitioners across China.
